Chimp Eden & Sudwala Caves
Opened in Chimp Eden is the first, and to date, the only Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Centre in South Africa. It is part of the Jane Goodall Institute and upholds the ethos and high standards associated with her reputation.
The centre is aimed at education through eco-tourism, and the importance of their amazing work cannot be underestimated. Chimps are highly endangered and without adequate intervention, may be extinct in the wild within the next 10-20 years! In the context of such dire odds, guests eagerly embrace the opportunity to see delightful Chimps living in a natural habitat, where they enjoy vital protection from the bushmeat trade and the exotic pet trade.
The world-famous Sudwala Caves are widely believed to be the oldest caves in the world. Set in Precambrian Dolomite rock, the caves are not just a natural wonder, but also appreciated for their history. It was rumoured to have been the place where Paul Kruger hid the legendary ‘Kruger Millions’…
The Sudwala Caves are a priceless heritage and visitors sometimes consider visiting this amazing place, a sacred experience. Guests can now also enjoy a Fish Spa, Dinosaur Park and Butterfly Experience in addition to the caves.
